2 Ontario Power Programs that Can Save You Money!

Toronto Real Estate - Money Saving Tips

1   We often see old refrigerators and freezers in clients’ basements when we are given a pre-listing tour. Why not get rid of that “dinosaur” and save up to $125 a year in energy costs. The Ontario Power Authority will pick-up and dispose of full-sized refrigerators and full-sized freezers. They must be: between 10-27 cubic feet, in working condition (plugged in 24 hrs prior to pick up) and15 years of age or older. Call 1-877-797-9473 or go online to register and view eligibility requirements at https://saveonenergy.ca/Consumer/Programs/Appliance-Retirement.aspx

2   Ontario Power is also offering an attractive HEATING & COOLING INCENTIVE, available for residents and businesses in Ontario who have purchased and installed eligible replacement central heating or cooling equipment through a participating contractor.

  • $250 incentive when you have an existing furnace replaced with the purchase and installation of a high efficiency furnace equipped with an Electronically Commutated Motor (ECM)
  • $250 incentive when you have an existing central air conditioner (CAC) replaced with the purchase and installation of an ENERGY STAR qualified CAC system (NOTE: ENERGY STAR qualified criteria = minimum 14.5 SEER and 12 EER )
  • $400 incentive when you have an existing CAC replaced with the purchase and installation of a stand alone CEE “Tier 2” level central air conditioning system
